20mm vs 40mm Aggregate: Which One Should You Use?
A simple guide for deciding when to use 20mm aggregate and when 40mm aggregate is the better choice.
20mm aggregate is generally used where the concrete needs good workability, such as slabs, beams, columns, and ordinary RCC work. It is easier to place and finish compared with larger stone.
40mm aggregate is better suited to heavier layers, foundation work, road base preparation, drainage layers, and mass concrete where the design allows larger stone.
Before ordering in bulk, check the drawing, concrete grade, and engineer's specification. The right aggregate size saves rework and avoids delays during mixing.
